Wine is the word

October 5, 2012 by The Co-operative Food wine

Is it us, or have Co-operative wines been getting a lot of plaudits lately? Over the past month our wines have been featured on TV shows such as This Morning, raved about in news papers and applauded by online blogs. What makes our wines so special? Why not read what the critics have been saying below:

BBC Easy Cook have selected our Zalze Shiraz/ Grenache/ Viognier as one which is an ideal wine for those entertaining, while wine writer, Sarah Jane Evans, also from BBC Good Food magazine loved our La Grille Sauvignon Blanc 2011 and praised it as a great weekday bottle, saying: “Just the thing to keep in the fridge for a grey day, this wine beings a lift of sunshine with clean grassy aromas, refreshing citrus flavours, and a supple dart of lemon curd on the finish. Great value – also try La Grille Loire Malbec, with delicate red fruits. Enjoy by itself, at a party (with easy-to-open screwcap), with salads or goat’s cheese.”

Woman magazine wrote about our half-price offer on Gran Tradicion Cava Brut (was £11.99, now £5.99) and included us in their “supermarket deals” section.

Eat In (10 November) recommended two of our wines for their regular “Bottle Shop” page. The Pink Pinot Grigio Veneto Maresco scored eight out of ten and was picked out as a great wine to: “Stock up for Christmas [and] goes well with vegetable and cheese bakes and seafood. Tastes of peach and melon and is slightly sweet. Why we like it: smooth and creamy, this is an easy drinker”. On the same page, the writer also commented on the Les Crouzes Colombard which scored eight out of ten: “Goes well with roast chicken and baked fish. Why we like it: It’s sharp, crisp and tangy with a lovely fresh, citrus fruit flavour and leaves no after taste behind. It’s almost the gin and tonic of wine!”
