Save money this ChristmasNovember 26, 2013 by The Co-op Observer
We know that buying ahead helps us plan for Christmas. You can avoid the stressful rushing around and save a lot of money too.
Look out for big savings in the Christmas deals at The Co-operative, and be inspired for creating presents too.
If friends are difficult to buy for there’s always the option of making up a Christmas food hamper. I’ll be starting mine this Friday 27th November when there will be Christmas deals on some great favourites that will be perfect for some of our friends. The Co-operative’s delightful Italian prosecco is only £6.49 for a limited period, and there are some favourites in the drink deals too, many spirits are only £12 a bottle. Hurry though, the spirits offer is only until 3rd November. I’ve seen that Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum is included, and Gordon’s Gin, both are great for some of the cocktails I have planned.
Speaking of cocktails – check out the prize draw to win a 6 bottle case of champagne at The Co-operative, click here for details. All you have to do is answer a simple question, and the answer is in the latest Food Magazine which you can read online by clicking here.
It’s not just drink deals that you need to look out for through. There are food deals to add to your shopping list too.
British pork shoulder joints are half price from 27th November until the 10th December and you can get a gammon joint for just £5. At home we tried the citrus gammon recipe from the Food Magazine last weekend, it was easy to prepare, and the whole joint was finished in one meal, we skipped the potatoes and just had several different vegetables for a lighter roast. On the subject of vegetables, tasty savoy cabbages and big 170g bags of trimmed fine green beans are both just £1 until 10th December. These are best eaten fresh and give you a good healthy build up to Christmas.
A feast of greens will help us feel better about tucking into some more indulgent delights – I can’t wait for the baked camembert with pancetta, it has become a party favourite in our household, we simply lightly toast a torn up ciabatta loaf to eat it off. Wow!
There are frozen party food selections, sweet tooth desserts, great cheeses and more in the food deals at The Co-operative. Click here to go to the full deals selection.
And remember if you’re a Co-operative Member, you even 10% back until Christmas.
