The “about” section on The Co-operative Food’s Facebook page starts with the wonderful line of “Here to make your life easier, healthier and more fabulous”. What a great mission that is!

By following The Co-operative Food on Facebook you not only find out things as they happen, you’ll get inspiration for your dinner, recipes, offers, and loads of quick and easy competitions that give you the chance of winning. Right now you have the chance to win anything from one of five £10 vouchers given away each week right through to a grand prize of £500 in Co-operative Vouchers. Plus, additional chances to win are available on Twitter, so be sure to check out both sites.

There’s a lot of serious social media out there, but we think it should be more fun. That’s why you’ll find content like the Summer Drink Combination chart – use it to create your ideal drink using your month of birth and your initials. I envy Vicky Roberts and her berry margarita, but what month should she have been born in? It’ll make sense when you look at the Timeline here: http://www.facebook.com/TheCooperativeFood

Click on their Summer Calendar app on Facebook and you’ll find something different every day – today it was a recipe for a quick and easy fruit compote on brioche, including how to make the brioche. Each day you can enter the current competition – five people a week will win a £10 voucher, but one lucky person will win £500 in vouchers. All you have to do is view their Summer Calendar here: https://apps.facebook.com/foodsummer/ and enter, how much easier could it be?

If there’s a competition elsewhere on the website, you’ll see it here too, and sometimes there’ll be ones from other parts of the Co-operative, like Travel, or Electrical.

Don’t forget to join in on the conversation! From people suggesting ways to improve their stores, to reviews of new foods, there is always someone on hand to listen to suggestions.

To anyone who doesn’t take part, the world of social media must seem like an alien planet, but for everyone who does it’s fast, connected and fun.

Now, who fancies sitting down and writing a letter?
