Baron de Ley Gran Reserva Rioja 2011

We’re delighted to announce to that the Baron de Ley Reserva Rioja 2011 triumphed in the Drinks Business Masters, taking home a coveted gold medal.

This award-winning Rioja is produced at Baron de Ley – one of the most respected wineries in Rioja, based on the site of an old fortress dating from 1548.

Producer Baron de Ley founded in 1985 by a small group of Rioja wine professional based on the idea of developing a purely “vineyard driven” winery which produces high-quality wines from its own vine.

In the vineyards all grapes are picked by hand and then manually sorted – all 850,000 kilos of grapes - with as many as 20% being rejected for use in their wines.

This Reserva takes a lot of time to produce due to the long minimum aging requirements demanded under Spanish wine law, spending 20 months in oak and another 2 years in bottle before being ready to leave the winery.

Ruby red in colour with intense red fruit aromas and notes of coconut, toffee and subtle spice on the nose, this wine has a powerful palate with a long finish.

Why not pair a glass with one of our delicious recipes - like Spanish Meatballs, Spicy Spanish Tomato Baked Eggs or Steak with Wedges?
