Bus passengers benefit from Stornoway store’s fundraising

May 17, 2012 by The Co-operative Food

Bus passengers travelling to and from The Co-operative Food store in Macaulay Road, Stornoway, are set to benefit thanks to fundraising by staff and shoppers.

A series of fundraising events, including a book stall and a raffle for a hamper, raised £500, which the store has donated to the local Manor and Castle Residents’ Association.

The cash will be used to refurbish bus shelters erected close to the store, and to create a garden area nearby.

Store Manager Steven Cooper said:

“Having new bus shelters close to the store will be a significant improvement for our shopper who rely on public transport. We’re pleased to be able to help the residents’ association in their work to maintain the local area, and we’re grateful to all our customers to help with our fundraising.”
