A fine selection of great wines from The Co-operativeNovember 18, 2013 by The Co-op Observer
The Co-operative has long been known for offering great wines at good value. The Co-operative takes the risk out of selecting something good by having a range of great wines, and nothing you’d turn your nose up at.
From the 27th November the rather lovely Italian Prosecco is included in the wine deals with a third off – that makes it just £6.49 a bottle, meaning you can treat yourself to a glass of fizz a bit more often.
There’s also a good deal on the light and easy drinking Arniston Bay red wine and white wine, and the Hardy’s Stamp Chardonnay Semillon and the Shiraz Cabernet, with all these wines at a third off between 27th November and 10th December.

Enjoying wines at their best: Flick to pages 38 and 39 of the new Food Magazine to learn how to get the best from your wines. In Britain we often drink reds too warm, and whites too cold, in both instances meaning that we don’t enjoy the flavours at their best.
Matching cheese and wines: Cheese and wine are a classic combination, but what cheese goes best with what wine? Pages 40 and 41 of the Christmas Food Magazine will help – there are six great suggestions, including two that pair white wines with some of the stronger cheeses, it’s an interesting combination and it works well.
Fruits with cheese (oh, and wine please): I also love fruit with cheese. Pecorino, the firm Italian ewe’s milk cheese is great with pear. Figs go well with stronger cheeses too, just make a slit in small ripe figs and stuff in a slice of good blue cheese – delicious.
Fine own brand Champagne: Les Pionniers Champagne Brut is light and fruity with toasty aromas, and you don’t need to take my word for how good it is. It won a Gold Medal at this years International Wine Challenge. If you wanted to really push the boat out you could have it with breakfast of Christmas Day!
A dessert wine with Christmas pudding? A rich sweet pudding deserves a great wine to match it – so try The Co-operative’s Chateau Roumieu Sauternes for the prefect end to the year’s best dinner!
Win Les Pionniers Champagne: You can even win three bottles of the excellent Les Pionniers own brand Champagne in a simple competition, click here to enter, but you’ll need to read the latest Food Magazine to find the answer.
